SQUIRES WALK WEDNESBURY GREY SCALE

This must be my best picture so far in 2013. The angle of the shot is unusual and I think it looks good in grey scale. I did my usual editing and removed a council litter bin, then changed it to grey scale. I did crop quite a lot of the original too.

There was a castle there 1,000 years ago, so that could be the original stone.

This photo was sent to me by Carolyn over at a Wonder of Tech.

I made it lighter and added contrast. I think it looks more interesting.

SCENE 2

I think this demonstrates the art of editing. I think this could have been the way the picture would have looked if there had been a little more light.

ROAD

This picture was actually shot in portrait and I cropped lots off the bottom, more than half the picture was cropped off to leave the interesting bit. In retrospect, I might have cropped a little too much off. As a general guide, it’s a good idea to look for the horizon and have that centred vertically. The horizon now seems low in this picture, before it was too high.

Redhouse 009

I still haven’t got this shot just the way I want it, but the weather and the light is improving. The light has been too bright sometimes, but I need the sun high in the sky for this shot. I would prefer the shot without that guard rail too!

Redhouse 034

This park was under used on Sunday afternoon. If you park on the car park you have to walk all across the park to these pools. I used a different entrance, but the parking was difficult. This is Redhouse park in West Bromwich, it’s at the bottom of Sandwell Valley which is a Country park so there are other places to go. I went to Forge Mill Farm after this and besides the farm there, there is a lake and the river passes through. I just added some contrast to this photo.

Redhouse 044

This is the River Tame at Forge Mill Farm. There is a lake over to the left and the river runs around it. You can get some interesting pictures. Notice that in the last three pictures that I tried to get the horizon centred vertically in those landscapes.
